Managing People for Growth
It’s a learning opportunity specifically designed to boost productivity, innovation & growth by getting better at how we manage our staff resource.
Delivered as 6 x 1 day modules over 12 weeks in small groups of 12 – 15 delegates, the programme explores the essential skills of being an effective manager of teams & individuals – from communication & motivation to managing performance & delivering results, and everything in between.
Highly action-focused, all the learning happens in the room with no need for additional study – the only activities outside the modules are what delegates themselves choose to implement with their own teams.
Supported by Scottish Enterprise to make it affordable for even the smallest business, places are only £550 + VAT each. We can accept up to 3 participants from an individual business on any group.
Programmes run throughout the year – click here for details of the next available dates.

Jay Christopherson, Head of Video, SpeakEasy Productions Ltd
I began the programme with some limited prior experience in managing teams but without having had any formal management training. I was therefore keen to learn new best-practice skills and techniques that I could bring back to the workplace, with a view to growing in confidence in my new role and ultimately becoming a better manager.
The programme really helped to deliver on these goals. It spanned 6 separate modules covering a range of topics relating to the theory and methodology of people management. These were adeptly delivered by our programme leader Rebecca, who I found to be friendly and engaging in addition to having the kind of knowledge and expertise that you would hope for in a thought leader in this area. In addition, each module featured a different guest speaker who provided real-world examples of what management theory looks like in practice.
Through the course I was able to qualify my own leadership style and learned how to build on this to help develop a high performing team. I was taught useful strategies and techniques in areas such as communication, delegation, motivation and coaching – utilising individual tools such as the Fair Work framework, the SMART method of setting goals and the e2c2 model for giving performance feedback. In addition, it was interesting to meet the other course attendees who came from different backgrounds and industry sectors, making for a shared and collaborative experience where we were encouraged to reflect together as we learned.
I now feel better equipped and more confident in my day-to-day role as a manager and I would certainly recommend the programme to anyone else looking to develop their people management skills.
